Question about meat source

I have a question about meat that I can get at the Asian market that is labeled "Not inspected by USDA". Does anyone know if this is okay for raw-fed dogs - I know some people on here get their meat from hunters etc., so will it be something similar?

I know about the whole thing about dogs being able to stomach a good dose of bacteria etc. but with us using a potty and having him on the bed at night (and being a licky dachshund), I was wondering if the risk of getting "ungraded" meat is justified - there is a large selection of rabbit, duck and innards at the Asian market... for cheap.

It would probably be okay but I wouldn't go for it. I wouldn't want to eat something that hadn't been checked just in case something was wrong with it. I know the FDA misses some stuff but having it checked out by a national organization would give me peace of mind. If you've eaten it and you know people who have eaten it that are fine, it's probably all right.
Just out of curiosity, why are you looking at asian meat markets? Is the meat cheaper? Do they tell you why the meat isn't inspected?

It's for my dog - I try to source good meat for him but I find that the more exotic meats like rabbit, goat, goose etc. can be exhorbitantly high where I live. The Asian market near where I live have really good prices on organ meat and all the aforementioned meat products.

They clearly label "Not inspected by USDA" on some of their meat products. I grew up eating traditional market meat that had no regulation and turned out fine but then again, you could actually choose which animal you wanted and have it butchered on the spot.

The pre-packaged styrofoam meat on the other hand...

i thought anything sold had to be inspected by usda, but it doesn't have to be graded, which is very expensive and is referred to as no roll beef....

i would buy no roll, but never would i buy anything that was not inspected.
