you would need 2 crates .......Personally I feel the bigger the better.
I have always bought crates that are big and used the divider till the dog was trusted not to potty in the crate

 

So get 2 cages to train them? It would be OK to keep them both in the same cage once they have been house broken wouldn't it?

I agree with pugmom. Each dog should be in their own crate. Part of it is a safety issue, and part of it is an attachment issue.. a lot of people run in to problems where their puppies spend too much time together and then have trouble when they go out and/or are trained separately from their sibling. You need to make sure that they bond with YOU and don't overbond with each other.

You can put them next to each other so that the pups can still interact while in their crates, though!

 

Thinking you're saving money by buying only one crate will cost you later (vet bills) if there are any issues between the dogs and one gets hurt.

 

Money is not the issue. Did I imply it was? I have known a few people who have kept dogs in the same cage without issue.Their vet bills were not increased by doing this.

Having separate cages makes sense. It should be easier to train them if they are separated.And giving them there own space seems reasonable.

 

I have two crates, one for each dog. I feed them in their crates. This way I know, immediately, if one gets sick and stops eating. It, also, helps keep the dogs at proper weight. One can't steal food from the other and there are no fights over food. If one dog looks under weight or over weight it is easy to adjust their meals without the other interfering.

Separate crates gives me a safe place to put a dog that's ill or recovering from surgery.

Years ago, I had two saluki litter mates, Poet and Fable. Once they reached sexual maturity there was no way I could have crated them together. Fable would have ripped her brother's face off. Of course, while I was showing them, I had to have a way of separating them when Fable was in heat. After I stopping showing, I had them altered but Fable would still snark at her brother. Crating them together would have met a trip to the e-vet for both, I'm sure.

There are many good reasons for using crates besides house breaking and protecting your home from damage when you go out. One crate for each dog.
