No, don't throw it out. Let her have it under supervision for an hour or two then take it away, rinse it off and put it in a zip lock bag, repeat the procedure tomorrow night and for the next few days until the bone is bare (you will see, they will get tired of it)--I had a 35 lb westie who could chew anything--don't worry---just supervise.

 

Oh ok, Should I put it back in the freezer after its in the zip lock bag? Btw its two somewhat very big PIECES! I dont want her to get sick eating so much raw meat.

 

if the bones have alot of meat/gristle on them and my dogs haven't had them for a while, i only let them have them for about 15 min for the first few days till the meaty stuff is gone......otherwise, you may end up w/ upset tummy and bouts of the "squirts"......i keep them in the freezer in between chews, so that they are a little tougher for the chewing.....

if there's not much of the "meaty" stuff or when it is (almost) gone, then i let them have them completely.....

 

I prefer to keep my bones in the fridge for the few days they have them. I am leary of freezing/thawing/refreezing/rethawing things. Once they are thawed, that is how it will stay.

 

I also got some beef knuckle bones, the dogs loved them and my kitchen chairs also look better!
