My 6-month old doxie has been with us for 3 months -- he's only had a handful of accidents, the most recent being 1 month ago...before today.

BUT my parents have about 5-6 huge plants in pots together in one area of the dining room, and my dog peed on the pot today.

His only other accidents were also done around this area...

Could he have thought this resembled a tree of some sort?

How do we eliminate him from going in this one spot?

It's not really a step backward. It's a reminder that the housetraining isn't quite done yet and he still needs some supervision...especially when he gets near that area. Otherwise, you're almost there.

Also, be aware he may try to test you and regress a bit soon. He's about to enter the "teenage" years, when rebellion sets in.

Is it a step backwards in housebreaking if a dog pees indoors at a place other than his own house, like at a pet store or a friend's house?
