I train with them. Actually depending on your definition, as I have seen different equipment called this. I use three separate ones. The first is a plank set on two barrels that has about a foot on either side to roll.
The second is a suspended plank, on a frame, hanging by cables, and can go very loosely any direction.
The last is a horizontal ladder type, the "rungs" are square, and only nailed on one corner, so they flip up when stepped on.
Any way, I use all of this to teach balance, and confidence on moving surfaces. The last of the three, as well as regular ladders helps with hind foot awareness the most. All I do is teach on, sit , down, turn and off, on the boards.
