My puppy was neutered last Wednesday. The Vet said no long walks for two weeks. He's going nuts. What will a long walk do to the sutures? It doesn't seem likely that walking would have any effect on them. I can understand jumping and tumbling, etc., but walking.... Meanwhile, I'm playing fetch with him in the kitchen. It's not really enough activity though...

Define long.

I took my dog for 20 min walks twice a day after he got neutered. Vet said it was fine, just no running/jumping.

Excessive exercise can cause more bleeding internally, and may cause swelling.

I wouldn't exhaust your dog, or hike on bad terrain/overgrown areas (where sticks could jab into the surgical area), or where there are steep hills, or get him wet. But regular walks on a sidewalk should be ok in moderation.
