Sometimes when we are playing with her if we touch her backside she yelps. not her butt, but like the top above her tail. Do you think she's hurt, or maybe sensitive in that area? Maybe just scared?

Agree. Vet check should be in order.

Jackson has a sensitive stop under his belly, at a certain spot. He's been x-rayed, had thorough exams, bloodwork, etc, there is nothing wrong with him. I think if you just grab him the wrong way in a weird position it bothers him.

But in your case, it sounds like it's the top of his back? It could very well be spinal and back problems.

What breed is your dog? Some are more prone to back problems than others and yes, as the others already told you, a check at the vet is in order!
