Our puppy is about 10 weeks old, has had one set of shots and is scheduled for a second set in two weeks. I have been told not to let him down outside or take him for walks where other dogs have been.
At what point is it safe to take our puppy for a walk? I want to train him to potty outside sooner rather than later(currently he uses puppy pads and so far ALWAYs is on target).....as well, he seems bored stuck inside all the time.

Thanks for any help!

One thing to add - check w/ your vet re: puppy socialization classes right away. It is essential to interact with as many other dogs, pups, and humans, etc. as possible in the first 16 weeks. The problem is that this necessarily entails greeting strangers before he's completed his rounds of vaccines; the vet can help you out by letting him meet healthy dogs/owners in controlled environment.

The places to avoid are dog parks and other common grounds/meeting places like Petco or Petsmart. There is no reason you cannot walk in your yard, the driveway, on the sidewalk, the street, your office, go for rides in the car, etc. The socialization is far more important.
Puppy classes ASAP are crucial. In 4 weeks, he'll be too old to enter most puppy kindergarten classes.
