My biggest concern about introducing a new puppy to our current dog is the puppy's toilet training! if the puppy has accidents, is there a chance my current boy will want to mark over the pee and thus not only go back in toilet training himself (hes 12 months old and never goes in the house) but also teach the puppy bad habits? sorry if this is a dumb question!

When we got Molly as a pup, Esther pretty-much house-trained her by demonstration. She would go out with us in the middle of the night, sometimes in the rain, and show the puppy why we were out there.

The key to house training your pup is to avoid the opportunity for "accidents." You go outside with what will seem l like an absurd frequency, extravagant praise and reward when there is outdoor success and constant supervision in-between (which might mean tethering the pup to yourself or, when that's impossible, a crate.) And, finally, it means absolutely no kind of punishment (and a very thorough cleaning with an enzymatic cleaner) if there IS an accident.
