We have been looking for a puppy to adopt at our local pound and think we've found one. His paperwork only says "Hound Mix" and we're trying to figure out what he may be. Please help. Thank you!

I'm trying to add his pic, but am having a problem... Here's the link to the image:

Hard to tell from the pic. How old is he? Young puppies tend to all look alike that that age. Either way he is probably a very mutty mutt, with lots of breeds in there.

That said I do see a bit of some sort of Bully breed, but it could just be the picture. Do you have any others?

This is the only pic I have, but I'm going back to the pound first thing tomorrow morning to take some more pictures. The picture shown is from the pound's website and is probably from a week ago. I think he already looks a little different from the picture shown.
Thanks,
Tina

It's hard to tell, but I do agree their looks like a bit of bully breed there..what is his body type? A full body pic would be helpful, hounds tend to be a bit "long bodied". It's so hard at the shelters to determine breed...they had Cracker and her sister listed as bloodhound and rottie..but as she grew we figured more foxhound/lab then anything else..but I tell ya the BARK is definitely hound! LOL

I signed the paperwork today and should have him home by Friday! :)
We named him Mason, and I think he's a Lab/Pit mix, but am not sure. Any suggestions???

Oh my isn't he CUTE!

I think definitely could be lab/pit or even have something bigger in him like rigdgeback or a larger hound type dog...guess you won't know still he starts to develop more of his features. Some shelters won't put pit in the breed due to "opinions" about them. He looks great!

Either way, congrats!

Thanks for the responses. Here's a video journal of the last week. :)

Tuesday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmPa-ElaoQs&feature=channel_page
Original Description: Puppy poop everywhere in the outside kennel. I was there when they were cleaning and it was so gross - and sad! I hope someone adopts this Fox Terrier/Jack Russell Mix; he was so sweet and really wanted to leave.
New Description: After playing back the video and looking at the pictures from this day, we decided to go back to adopt the Terrier Mix the next day!!! Yay!!

Wednesday 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiTRRHHUjkE&feature=channel_page
This was the first day that I took out both puppies to play at the same time. This video was taken right after they woke up from sleeping, and before we went out to play.

Wednesday 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv08bEyybaY&feature=channel_page
This is the first time they were taken out of their cage to play together. They seemed a little unsure of what to do at first. Kind of sad. :( But this story will get better!

Wednesday 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM5f9BOu1LU&feature=channel_page
Mayson is all about chewing, and Jax is all about me. He still doesn't realize he's ours.

Wednesday 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3BBsyDMb2M&feature=channel_page
Jax is getting happy, and surprised me by fetching the ball twice!
Mayson is still a slow, clumsy little puppy, but he will catch on soon.

After playtime, back in the kennel together. They are tired, and want to leave with me!
It's so hard to leave them there. I can't wait to get them home!!

Mayson is really tired after playing. Jax is looking around like, "Hey, it's time to break out of this joint!"

Visiting time was over for the day, but I'll be back tomorrow.
Immediately after I left their kennel, I headed up to the front office to sign the second set of adoption papers (this set was for Jax).

This precious German Shepherd Mix also captured my heart, but we can only adopt two.
Luckily, I found out the next day that she was being adopted.

This is my second visit with both pups out. They remembered me from the day before and were more comfortable in the visitation pen. I brought them a fresh tennis ball to play with and chew on. I feel so bad for them because they are teething, and the pound doesn't provide chew toys for them. They were in Heaven chewing on anything they could get their teeth around. Jax is much quicker than Mayson right now. It's so funny because just when Mayson gets his eye on the ball, Jax grabs it and it takes Mayson a few seconds to realize where it went! So instead of chasing the ball, Mayson just chases Jax! Too cute!!

Second day playing outside together. I love these little guys.
It's going to be a few days still until we can take them home. I can't wait to get them out of the pound.

I was supposed to pick them up Saturday, but things have been delayed because of the long holiday weekend last week. They should have their surgery Monday, and we can pick them up Tuesday.

:D

I just watched the series of videos, plus the ones of them at home. Looks like they are doing well. Hope that continues to be the case!

Thanks again for rescuing. I bet you'll find you develop an even stronger bond with them because of it--I found that to be true with Cupid.

Thanks! They are wonderful! Jax is sitting on my lap as I type this. He is by my side or on my lap at all times! Mayson is a total sweetheart too, but more independent and carefree. They are happy little pups. :)
