I have read and tried the loose leash thread on here with no responce. My puppy still pulles as soon as the leash is loose again. I have however noticed that he hates it and will walk loose leash if the leash happens to go under his arm pit. Do they make harness like this? Any other suggestions on collars or harnesses that would help me out so he will quit pulling the leash and me on our walks? Thank you in advance on any advice.

jiml,

I tried the Premier Easy Walk harness, but it kept loosening up when I used it (it was adjusted exactly as Premier advised). I ended up returning it. YMMV :)

jessieanne,

If the Tug N Hug harnesses are too expensive, have a look at the Bonafido Training Leash http://www.bonafido.com for an inexpensive (under $20) solution that does work quite well. They are "bare bones", and use polypropylene rope which can be a little rough on your hands (they do sell an insert for the hand loop) and work with you dog's regular flat collar, but they do work quite effectively. The "Weiss Walkie" is essentially the same thing but a little more expensive.

I have used a few no pull harnesses. None fit as well as a regular harness. Of the ones I have used I liked the primier the best. My wife used to turn it upside down once the dog stopped pulling so the buckle was on top like a reg harness.

the Bonafido Training Leash looks interesting but I hesitate (maybe its just me) to buy anything from a company that cant take a clear pic of their product.

I can't say it would be the same with a puppy, or even all adult dogs, but I found my guy walked much better with a regular harness compared to a collar. It was like I was walking a different dog. He still pulled some, but far less than he did otherwise. You might try a regular harness and see how he does before spending the money for something more expensive.

I'm still looking for the best collar for Tucker. I have a slip lead, a martingale collar/leash combo, a Sensible Harness, a Gentle Leader Head Collar, a flat nylon collar, a 4 ft and a 6 ft leash, as well as (3) 20 ft cotton drag lines.

Since Tucker is 95 pounds and still growing, I'm no longer comfortable with only using a flat collar -- the risk of neck injuries when he hits the end of the line are much greater -- for all situations. He walks on a loose-leash, but we haven't tested this under high distraction. At those times, I use the body harness. In class, I use the head collar because that's what the trainer wants. Around the house I use the flat collar.
