What can you tell me about Catahoulas?

Lo and behold, Kaki is a Catahoula mix. Her last owners told me she was an aussie mix and my guess is that they got her from a shelter. She's definitely not aussie. I lurve her so much that I'd like to get another catahoula but she is a mix so I don't know if her temperment is the mutt or not. I want to know more about the catahoula disposition and all that jazz. Please.:)

Some have the ability to climb trees.

Lol. Kaki is rather adept when it comes to chasing a squirrel up a tree.
What I'm most concerned about when it comes to getting another catahoula is cuddly, velco-ness. Kaki is very attached to me and a superb spooner. But I don't know what she's mixed with. Can pure cats be spooners too? Is that an environment type thing or a genetic thing?
Aside from that, I love the breed's intelligence, stamina, looks, etc.
I don't really care what abney catahoulas seems to think the breed history is. I've scoured his website and he seems like a good breeder, better than any others I've found. I also like Double Ott.
The more I read, the more I think,"Oh that explains Kaki's <insert odd behavior>"(Such as climbing trees after squirrels). I'll be a catahoula owner for life.
Kaki has a very strong sense of family. Everybody else is just background noise. She's very intuitive when it comes to sketchy people. Amazing running dog. Intelligent. Obedience has been a breeze. If kaki weren't so fearful, we could really accomplish a lot. I read that CLDs were being used in law enforcement so I think it would be awesome to get my next pooch into schutzhund(sp?).
It's going to be a while before I can get another pooch but I definitely want an abney or double ott pup.
