His papers say he is a shih tzu cross Maltese …although he has a long snout which is not fluffy, he is mostly black in colour and his coat it’s not so fluffy. He is 7months old

Question what kind of dog do you guys reckon this is? I was told Shih Cross Maltese, But I really don’t see it he’s not as fluffy but he is only seven months and they say they lose their baby hair to adult. But he has such a smooth muzzle(not long hair) there is a lot of black this could be the Shih rzu and his nose is a bit longer but that could be the Maltese.

If I saw him on the street, I would guess some sort of Chihuahua/CKCS/Spitz mix. Rescues often guess at breeds but have no definitive way to determine 100% for sure what a dog is. The only way to know for certain is do a DNA test, and those can be expensive.

I have had many Shih Tzu x Maltese and I can day for sure that is not what this dog is. For one thing they do not shed their puppy coats, it just continues to grow but changes texture and you have to clip them as it does not shed. The dog in my picture is a typical Shih Tzu x Maltese. not trimmed and trimmed down. Still have him and he is 16 year old.

What is a CKCS? Sorry I am from Australia and I’ve never heard that term. Yes I was thinking Chihuahua or maybe even Pomeranian with the face Spritz is interesting I didn’t think about that one. He is very friendly anyway I love him to bits Just have to control his barking distraction is key

CKCS = Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

A spitz is a type of dog, many different breeds that have the same characteristics, not really a breed in itself (although Pomeranians would be part of that type). Here is an article from the AKC that explains spitz type dogs a bit more.

No I'm from Italy! Leo is also very energetic and a good watchdog...but he also loves cuddles very much!!! Every morging he comes to wake us up
Sounds like my Benji, he’s a barker but also a lover! I’m almost wondering whether I should rename him to Romeo, doesn’t seem to really know his name yet I only just adopted him three days ago.
