Does anyone know much about this new organic dog food called Wenaewe? I live in Philadelphia, PA and saw it on the shelf the other day... I own a 2yr old Border Collie and want to switch him to an all organic diet and believe this is the way to go, but i am just worried since it is a fairly new product... anyone use it or herd/know anything about it?

This is the website:http://wenaewepet.com/

Thanks

I wouldn't feed it. It won't let me copy/paste the ingredients, but there is not much meat in this food. Seems like slick marketing, because the first ingredient is "Organic Uruguayan Beef," which is probably in itself a fine ingredient, but because all meats are like 80% water, once the water is removed, that leaves very little beef. This would be fine if it was backed by a second ingredient which was a meat meal (which is weighed AFTER the water is removed), but instead it goes on to list several different carbohydrate sources. None of them are objectionable, but they should not be the primary ingredient in the food. Meat should be because dogs are carnivores.

I can't choose your values for you, so you're welcome to feed whatever you're comfortable with. But personally, whether or not a food is organic is not my primary concern when it comes to choosing a food. I've yet to find a fully certified organic food that wasn't either very low in meat or prohibitively expensive. Most make their foods more affordable (but of course still expensive) by skimping on the meat, and this isn't doing your dog any favors. I would value meat content over organic content. Actually, if I was concerned with keeping my dog on an organic diet, I would most likely go raw and just buy organic meats. It would probably be cheaper and much healthier.
