Nash came home on Friday night. We spent about 2 hours introducing all the dogs (there are 5 in the house at the moment including him). We walked each resident dog singly with him, then in pairs, then trios then we walked him with all 4 for a nice long walk. Overall that went well. On the last walk we had him walk next to each dog for part of it.
That was all we did with him then. On Saturday I wasn't home for most of the day. I took him for a walk and then Julie spent the day with him. In the house he is always either tied to us or in his crate unless he is just in our bedroom and we are watching him. He doesn't really know not to chew things, so far no potty accidents though.
Sunday we loaded the clicker, bought a 15 foot lead and an easy walk harness. He did very well in the store, he even ignored another dog that was aggressively lunging at him. He responds well to the harness. We worked on sit, which he is doing very well with. He now will automatically sit at doorways and the gate blocking the stairs to go down. He usually sits right away for me to put his collar and harness on. He broke out of his crate on Sunday when I took Allie and Lloyd for a run. He was very upset we left him behind. He was laying next to the gate waiting for us. When I took him to my parents on Sunday he met the neighbors and their little girls and my niece. He is so very good with kids. Very gentle and careful not to knock them down.
Today we worked on responding better to his name and on loose leash walking. He is doing well, but I think the loose leash walking might take a little while. We also worked on staying in a sit in his crate until I tell him he can get out of it, instead of dashing out as soon as I open the door. He has that down fairly well.
Allie and Lloyd are not to happy about him being here. Lloyd mostly just doesn't like it when Nash is getting attention from us. Allie really doesn't like Nash much. Nash doesn't have very good dog manners, but already seems to be getting better. Lloyd today was bringing him toys to play, so that is a good sign!
