Has anyone seen or competed with Kangals or Malakli in the USA for competition weight pulls? I raise both Kangals and now have Malakli. In Turkey, they have them compete by pulling tractors that weigh 7000-10,500 pounds. I have no idea about the rules, but videos show them pulling them a good distance. Didnt know how that would compare to other breeds.

Sad to admit, but I need to have someone show me how to post a link...Haha. Google "dog weight pull" I never heard about it untill I stumbled on it researching Malakli. Is quite impressive to see a dog pull a large tractor. All done at his own free will.

Hello!

Any breed of dog is welcome to weight pull, I've personally never seen either breed weight pulling but it doesn't mean they haven't. We have some Presa's and at least one Great Dane pulling, but that's about it for the BIG dogs. The Great Dane can normally pull around 9K on wheels. The American Bulldogs have broken the record a few times on a track at over 10K (This was an 11K pull that he just couldn't do. It was just too hot):

With the UKC, the dogs pull 16ft and have 1min to do so. There is no food or toys allowed to get your dog to pull either, just you and your dog's bond to get the to pull. Here's a small write up I did on the basics of WP http://www.dogforums.com/dog-sports-show-forum/86257-everything-you-wanted-know.html

Oh, you are very much welcome! You have some beautiful dogs there. Are they registered with the kennel clubs in turkey? I've seen the breed before online, but they are pretty rare here in the US. We have some amazing sport clubs here in the US, and if your in the right parts of TX, you'll be able to hit up a lot of shows.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

and I just wanted to say welcome to DF!
