Dear Community Members,

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new forum platform! We have been working hard over the past few months with a leading design and product firm to deliver a cleaner, faster and more engaging experience for you. We have leveraged XenForo tools and features but added layers of modern design and technology to make the site run faster, smoother and more reliably. All of the valuable content within the community is still here, even though the layout may look different.

A consistent experience across all devices
The site is optimized for all screen sizes, including mobile. All features are available and ready to use on all devices.

Speed and reliability are key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

Easy to use and navigate
We have made the design clean and simple to focus on the areas the community uses the most and removed clutter.

We have also introduced a number of new and updated features:

New Homepage Experience
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will help keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and eventually become a very personalized experience for our members with all the great content you love surfaced effortlessly for you.

Search
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, that will help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.

Due to the volume of content, our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Popular and New Posts
We have made it easy to navigate directly to the Popular (previously Active Topics) Posts. You can find the Popular section, which includes “New Posts”, by clicking on the trending up arrow in the navigation. Always be up to date!

Bookmarks
Now you can bookmark your favorite discussions! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

Following
Following a thread is a great way to stay up-to-date on the topic, and receive alerts or emails when there are new replies. Thread subscriptions and watched threads are now called “Followed”. Your followed threads can be accessed by clicking on your user avatar, and clicking “Following”. We have migrated all of your existing subscriptions into the new platform.

Show off your own collection.
We have introduced “My Showcase” for you to show-off images of your own vehicles, modifications or road trips to the rest of the community and we have migrated in the existing data from our vBulletin Garages. This is your opportunity to upload often and share your passion! Visit Showcase.

Dark Mode
We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it through the right-hand drop-down menu.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:

Forum Listing – the forum index, or forum home, is now known as the Forum Listing page. It can be found in the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.

Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following

Conversations – Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation

Showcase – Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on content you wish to share. The showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas gallery would be like a photo album. Can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots

Popular – is the new name for Active Topics. You can also directly navigate to New Posts / Today’s Posts from this button

Account Settings – is the new name for UserCP. The account settings can be found by clicking on your avatar in the top right navigation

Bookmarks – a great place to store valuable content that you may want to reference later.

These are just a few of the great new functions and features to try on the site. Take a tour and look around! If you have any questions, please check out the HELP section for some quick FAQs about the new platform, Help Section

Please let us know what you think about the new experience, your feedback is important to us.

Thank you all for your support during this amazing journey!

I will be here during your transition to the new platform, to help with any questions, help with navigation or how to do things, and to listen to your feedback so please don't hesitate to holler at me. I want to help.

I do want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Cricket. When I was born, my father told his friends I was the ugliest baby he had ever seen, and that I sounded just like a cricket (yes, the insect) so I have been Cricket for nearly 58 years now. I live just outside of San Antonio, Texas and spend most of my off time out in nature. I spend my vacation, in the fall, hiking and camping.

I have worked with VerticalScope for nearly 5 years now. I won't always know the answers to your questions, but I can find someone who does, as needed. ;)

Please don't be afraid to explore and test out things to see how they work on the site.

Although you can certainly use the "insert image" icon to upload an image to your post, you can also just drag and drop it to the text editor or even copy/paste it into there!

(I took this photo on a road trip to New Orleans.)

You can easily share videos just by adding the URL directly into the text editor!

Gif links from sites like giphy.com will display automatically just by adding the gif URL directly in the text editor. Try it!

I am also a huge fan of the dark mode for the community. What is your favorite feature?

I will be here to answer questions and to help you navigate, as needed. :)

I like the look! Much more modern. It's nice that we just have to drop YouTube links into a post now instead of messing with BBCode. The new way of adding pictures will be easier for a lot of people, too. We had lots of questions about image hosting in the past.

Everything seems to have migrated over properly, and I'm not having trouble finding anything.

My one nitpick is that several of the homepage "trending discussions" are from literally years ago, and we already have problems with people resurrecting dead threads. Is there any way to ensure that section shows only recent trending topics?

Um, well, maybe when I get over how drastic the change is, I might like it? It certainly is different.

I do like being able to bold, italicize, and/or underline your words, though. Not being able to do that always annoyed me about the old platform.

I like the look and the format.

The age of trending discussions and the random pictures apparantly taken from google instead of belonging to forum members bothers me.

They are still working on that front page for us. :)

Like most of us, I am a creature of habit, so it takes me a bit to get used to changes. (I was more than a little grumpy about it all at first.) I was lucky enough to get the chance to play with the new platform before they went live with it so I am already getting used to it. I have to admit that I am crazy about it now. It feels so much faster and is easy to use after a brief learning curve. Give it a few days and let me know if you start liking it too. ;)

Thank you for bringing that up. They aren't actually random pictures. They are are pictures of our support team members dogs.

That being said, that section will absolutely be filled with member pictures. That area is populated from the showcase. Since this is a new feature for this site, we added the images so there would be something there for now. Each of you can add your own showcase(s) about your dog!

Step 1: Click on your avatar near the upper right-hand corner of the site. From the drop-down menu, select 'my showcase'.
261542

Step 2: Click on 'add item'.
261543

Step 3: Once you click on 'add item' you will see 'showcase near the top left. Click on it.
261544

Step 4: You will now see a new page open up. They are still working on this page for us so you will see a lot of information for cars that is not applicable to us. Just ignore those parts until they update this feature for us. Fill in tags if you wish, and a brief description. Skip down to 'General Information' and enter the story about your dog in the text editor, much like you would for a regular post. Make sure to add images in there too. I believe the 1st one will be what will show at the top but we may have to experiement with this a bit.

Once you have finished, scroll to the bottom and select save.

Not sure if I like the new format or not. I suppose time will tell as I establish some familiarity with the procedures and features.

One thing that comes immediately to hand is, how do I log out after posting a comment? I can't seem to locate the relevant area / box / tab to click on to accomplish this.

Also, it seems the ability to immediately go to the latest post in a given thread has been lost. I can see page # listings somewhat near the left side, but evidently I can only click on the latest or last page ... and then I have to SCROLL DOWN to get to the most recent entry ??? minor, but still painful.

Also also, It seems I've lost the ability to immediately access quite a few of the sub-forums, ie: sports forum etc. Apparently I have to open the main page first, ok fine, but then click on "view all forums" ??? so another click and another inconvenience. For me, at least.

And these are only two things I've noticed in my very brief perusal of the new format today. Three things, if you include my inquiry re: how to log out. I shudder to think at what others I may discover as I look around more and more.

I can appreciate the fact that times change, and improvements are hoping to be made. But, I guess it all depends on a person's definition of improvement.

Help me understand exactly what you are trying to do. In the meantime, I am going to add some information below.

Navigating Thread Listing
261549

  • Clicking the thread title will take you to where you left off, the 1st unread post.
  • Clicking the timestamp below the title will take you to the 1st post of the thread.
  • Clicking the timestamp above the last poster user takes you to the last (newest) post.
Also, each thread has a button (in the thread) next to the title, to jump to the latest (most recent) post.

There are a few places to view all forums. Click on the 3 vertical dots near the upper right-hand corner. Select 'Forum Listing'.
261547

At the bottom of every thread, you will see a forum jump as well.

We will continue to see weekly updates (approximately) that are largely fueled by member feedback. You can keep track of our progress with the updates here.

Let me know if I can help. Is there anything I can help you find?

It's not that I can't find anything. I even like a couple of the new features I've come across. It's just that I don't care for the overall design and layout.
