Morning all Chumley (13 week old Lab retriever) is doing much better than we thought on the training front but one thing he just wont do is ....hes fine walking on lead around back garden and some of front garden but when we get half way up the drive....bang his bum hits the floor and no one or nothing is gunna shift him ...we have tried treats stick dipped in his food etc but just wont budge...hes going for last injection this week and we are wantin to take him for short walks ...but they will be very short if he wont go up the drive.....any suggestions anyone

He's still a baby and learning so no corrections yet. If you know about how far he'll walk up your dirve go to a point just before his stopping point, praise and reward, and then turn around and go back home. Repeat a few times (praise, but don't necessarily reward with a treat each time) and then see if you can take a step or two further.

Another option is to take him to a point away from your yard, starting a house or two away (carry or drive him) and walk back to your house from there. Games, such as follow the leader can also help with this because the pup is so busy watching and imitating your actions he forgets that he's going into the "scary" world.

Another game you can play on the walk is to toss the treats ahead of you into the grass...let him search for them..getting rewarded for exploring the world.
