I have two 4 year old dogs who are were house trained using a dog door. The problem is that we've moved and a dog door is no longer an option. How can I train the dogs to wait longer before potty breaks? They seem to max out at about 6 hours, which is a problem when I'm working.

i thnk the best idea is to crate them when youre gone and try to take them out right before you leave and right when you get home. also try not to give too many treats while youre gone in the crate if it makes your dog want to go to the bathroom more.

Honestly, would you want to have to wait that long to pee if you had to go? I mean have you ever tried? I had to hold it once on a bus trip in HS for 3+ hours and it was the worst.

Seems like doggy day camp or a dog walker to come at lunch would be nicer than making them wait 8 hours to have a pee.

Thanks for the input. Since a dog door is out of the question at this time, we'll try crating and see how it works. Thanks,
