I just purchased a relatively inexpensive vacuum sealer from Amazon with intentions to use it for my dogs' food (they are raw/homecooked fed). My busy schedule makes it essential that I have a decent stockpile of meals in the fridge and freezer and I'm hoping to extend the life and improve the quality of said meals with the vacuum sealer.

Like I said, the one I got was cheap compared to others I saw, as I'm just trying this out, but does anyone else have/use a vacuum sealer that they recommend?

I have the Foodsaver FM2000, they cost around 80 USD and, with dog food and game processing use, last about 2 years. I bought one for twice the price, it still only lasted two years so, I went back to the cheaper model and, just replace it every two years.

For you, it may last longer, for me we are talking about packing 12 whole deer, 2 hogs, 1 cow, 100 chickens and food for four 100 lb plus dogs, about 50 lbs of vegetables form the garden and, the occasional bit of leftovers as well.
