Update on Lucy ...

Lucy seems to be a Fox terrier ... per vet ( as the vet chuckled )... as she is too tall and long faced to be a Russel. :)

Did the blood test ... She is in good health and heartworm " Negative! " ... Yeeeaaa!!!

We have antibiotics for her skin from the flea infestation and when we go back in two weeks for her booster shots ... if it has not improved we will do allergy testing.

I just put revolution on her.

She is showing her hunting instincts and has amazing night vision! She went after a cat last night ... this morning it was the birds she wanted. She is my kind of girl for sure! :) I will not allow her to hurt any varmints though.

I can hardly wait to see what surprises she has in store for me once she feels well from her spay. She does a little " Deer Dance " as I call it when the other dogs come near me ... or her. She also shows her teeth, what she has left ... when Abbylynn comes too close to me ... will have to work on that one!

She is only 3 - 5 pounds underweight. I think we can fix that! :) She has gained .8 of a pound in two days. She should weigh around 20 pounds or so to be at a healthy weight. She weighs 17.8 pounds today. Vet says she has a nice tuck-up. :) She is also nice and tall on her well rounded foot pads.

Now ... she just needs some hair to grow back on her tail! Lol! :)

Finally some good news for you. You deserve some good things for awhile. You have been dealt with so many bad things, you deserve some good. You definately are a terrier person. A true terrier person finds amusement in their dog's true nature. I think you need to get a second one. :)
Lol! You read my mind about a second Fox Terrier......... I actually did think that earlier today as I watched Lucy lying on the top of the back of the couch! ... and standing on the top of the back of a chair to see out the window! Lol! I have a climber! :)

I have lost my mind ... haven't I Lol!??? :)

Her name reminds me that my aunt recently aquired a dog and named her Lucy.

Then she yells, "I love Lucy!" and "Lucy, I'm hooooome!" and cracks herself up in a fit of giggles:)
Lol! That is cute! :) I will probably be saying " Luuuuuuucy!!!" when she does something bad. Lol! I loved that show as a kid.
She kinda does look like a JRT tho
Yeah ... I cannot quite figure it out. She is all legs and nose! Lol! :)
It's going to be fun to hear about Lucy as she becomes more accustomed to her new station in life. I had a Wire Fox Terrier growing up (I was ages 10-29), and I have Aidan now, and terriers keep life interesting! Aidan is the funniest dog I've ever met. He is also the most exasperating, usually when I'm tired and he is not. I'm getting better at predicting what he'll do next, so I can prevent some of his mischief.

Aidan has recently discovered that the most fun way around the living room is leaping from one piece of furniture to the next. He's developed an elaborate routine -- he can go forward and backward without injuring himself. Every day, Aidan thinks up at least one new thing, usually at night when I am tired and he is not. It works for him because he jump-starts me, no matter how late it is.
I agree ... and Lucy likes being atop of things ... literally ... like the tippy top of chairs to look out windows. Lol! :)
Just checking my sig ... it seems to have disappeared? .... Nope ... I guess it is still here? Strange ..... i will just take the opportunity to place a new pic ...

I wish I knew why she kept me up all night sneezing and gagging ... The Benadryl in the day time seemed to help some.

I also wish I knew what she was thinking ...

She looks like a Rat Terrier/ JRT mix with the Rat Terrier being the main breed.
Thank you for the info ... she is 17.8 pounds. She is supposed to be about 20 pounds? She is a good 12 inches at her back line. Whatever she is ... she is terrier. And she is also going to the vets this morning ... she is now blowing bubbles from her nose ... poor girl. :( We need to get her straightened out so we can begin to enjoy each other ... it is pretty hard when you are miserable.
Lucy just has kennel cough ... we have some Clavamox and cough tablets and Benadryl ... just keeping my fingers crossed Abbylynn and Blu Boy stay well. If not I guess it will be a sneezing and coughing factory around here for a bit. :/ Vet says you can use saline solution up their nose twice a day also ... just a couple squirts in each nostril and also keeping the dog in the bathroom when you take a steamy shower ... or just make a steamy bathroom. :)

I can hardly wait for the illness to be over so we can begin walking and hiking and all that good stuff! :)
What every terrier thinks. Where is that squirrel? and if I was outside def would be chasing that leaf and smelling that over there.
Lol! I was in for the surprise of my life! ... Lucy lunged away from me and almost ripped my already horribly sore arm (from my pneumonia shot) out of its socket! She saw a squirrel! I never heard such commotion and such a deep bay and such coming out of a little dog! Sick or no ... she is a hunter for sure! I can hardly wait ... I want to go ratting with her somewhere around this forsaken "no-mans-land" when she is well.

I need to find a club or something. I don't think the age of 5 or so is too old? ... they say Terriers are long lived and a fairly healthy breed ... my childhood terrier lived to be 17 years old. :)
My 9 and 10 year old terriers are not showing any signs of slowing down, at all. The 10 yr old runs circles around EVERYBODY, literally. He follows when we're riding the horses and keeps up with them when all the other dogs have given up and are laying in the shade...so no 5 isn't even remotely old for a terrier!
This is good to hear. :)

It seems Lucy needs to be well first.

Lucy is on a hunger and drinking strike today. Vet says maybe Kennel cough is Influenza ... if she does not drink by morning she will have to spend a couple days in the "clink" on IV fluids and antibiotic injections.

Poor girl! ... But ... Does it ever end around here?!!!
