I have a 3 year old chocolate lab. I've had her since she was 3 months old. I somewhat train dogs and grew up working with them. She has an older sister who is 10. Growing up, I took her to dog parks, walks around town, car rides, off leash, on leash, etc. She has what I might classify as separation anxiety, although its more than that. She is claustrophobic. Putting her in a kennel has resulted in many damages, but crawling in a short tunnel is no problem.
She isn't scared of thunder storms but is fully shaking if she hears fireworks in the distance. She loves to go for walks, but won't go outside if I don't. If I make her go on the apartment balcony (2nd/top floor) and close the door shell tuck her tail and back legs tremble as she looks around even if her sister is outside too. She loves dogs and cats but doesn't approach people that her sister hasn't okayed. If I leave her alone at home she doesn't tear anything up and she follows stay very well. She spends a lot of time under my bed because it is her safe spot.
I can't say her anxiety is separation or loud noises or unknown surroundings or more.
She is incredibly talented. She can climb trees, weave through my legs, jump through hoops, etc. But her anxiety and lack of focus is a huge downfall.
Does anyone know what you might classify this as? Also any tips to fix it?
