In the past few weeks I've posted about my SO's family who were looking for a dog and my family whose dog recently passed away. Well this weekend my SO's family found a dog and so did my parents!

My Mom said she really missed having a dog in the house and kept on searching petfinder and different shelter websites and somehow or the other ended up being connected with a lady who had a 9 mo. old schnauzer mix puppy to rehome right before the dog was even posted to for the public to adopt. Mom sent the lady an email, met the dog on Saturday and the rest is history. I had a few concerns when I heard how fast things moved and that the puppy is high energy and will probably end up close to 35 or 40 lbs. To my surprise though Mom has been walking the dog twice a day, playing lots of fetch and really enjoying her new companion. I think it's good for her to start getting exercise like this. I hope she keeps it up, but if she doesn't I'm sure Kahlee (pronounced Kaylie, she is named after Frieda Kahlo on account of her facial hair :p) will give her reminders. It's very exciting and I can't wait to meet Kahlee in person.

My SO's parents found a dog at this huge adoption event in CT this weekend. They kept having problems with rescues because they wanted a small fluffy dog and every time they sent out an inquiry it was already adopted. They had found one and got to the home inspection stage, but there was another application that was already in on the dog and the rescue decided to give the dog to the other family since they applied first. They were pretty upset about that. But at this event, which was a 3 day thing I think, there were around 200 dogs some pulled from shelters in the south and one group that had former street dogs from Puerto Rico that had been rescued and turned into family pets. By the time they got there they had to wait in line for a couple hours before they could get in and they said it was chaos with twice as many dogs as people. But they found a sweet little white mutt from the Puerto Rican rescue group. His name was Pippo Desoto and I think they're going to keep it. It's their family's first dog as his mom used to have allergies and they are all so excited about it. He's about 15-20 lb. and has the cutest little pricked up ears.

Naturally I have to go to the pet store to get some small toy for each of them to welcome them to the family :D

Well written, (It has my interest), as you may know I am a min-schnauzer lover, Love to see a picture of your mom's new dog. If you can do it both dogs! If you have never had the schnauzer experience, you mom is in for quite a treat. Yes I realize there is something else in there as well, so it should be even more exciting and rewarding!

Now do not be one of those people that never follow up, I cannot wait to hear what your mom has to say about this dog down the road a bit, and that picture, promise.......:)

PS... We are in the middle of a white out snow blizzard, but my two little guys go out to brave it and do there thing:), they even play for a few extra minutes until they start to get frozen feet.

Oh Max'sHuman what a wonderful happy story. I hope it all works out for all of them. I can totally understand your mom wanting a dog. When you lose a dog the silence in the house is deafening. I am so glad she found a little friend and exercise buddy. Congrats to both families! :)

Thanks guys! My mom's last dog was a schnauzer mix too, but the two dogs look pretty different. To tell the truth I'm not sure how much schnauzer she has in her. But after Trina the whole family fell in love with schnauzer/terrier mixes, I mean they are something special for sure. That's how I ended up with a scruffy dog myself.

I don't have enough pictures yet but here's the one mom forwarded me that the lady originally sent her:

I don't have any pictures of Pippo yet. I'll post them when I do.

Inga boy were right about the deafening silence thing. Trina was a big barker and she liked to "talk" to people, it was just so strange when I went home and she wasn't there. I mean the house wasn't only silent it felt still and just strange.

Nice post and glad to see people helping rescue dogs. The only thing I see absolutely wrong is their are no pics. How can you sit there and talk about 2 wonderful dogs without providing pictures :D

Ok we will wait but please hurry.

Glad to hear about the Puerto Rican adoptions. We were there a few years ago and our guide took us to non-touristy places. Stopped at one place and there was a few skinny dogs crossing the streets and begging for food. Gad, I wanted to take them home but I was on a cruise ship and they wouldn't allow it.

Another place that needs rescues is Mexico.

Congratulations on your adoptions. I want to see the pictures also.

Also, what does SO mean?

SO= significant other. Makes me feel more mature than saying boyfriend.

I want another bearded mutt too. All this excitement has made me want a little sister for Max. It's not economically viable right now, but it doesn't stop me from obsessively searching petfinder.com.
