In a couple of weeks we will be driving about 10 hours to visit some relatives we haven't seen in a couple years. We've been there before with our dog, but they've since gotten a dog.
Our dog is good in the car, but will probably pretty wound up by the time we get there. What is the best way to introduce the dogs once we get there?
Both being female, I really do hope they get along. It would be really tough to keep them separate the whole time we visit.

Best way is usually to take both dogs on a walk in a neutral location. Start by not really letting them interact, just see each other across a street or some distance where they don't really care about the other. Then as they begin to get bored of each other you can bring them closer and closer together, and when they're ready they can meet face to face. Well, not really face to face, more like side to side or nose to butt. If all goes well, you can let them play under supervision. Here's a link to a brief tutorial: Introducing your new dog to your other dogs

Even if they do seem to get along, I would still give them alone time. If you can't directly supervise (like when you're sleeping or getting ready) have your pup crated or locked in the room with you.

Thank you Lillith.

Also: If your screen name refers to the character from Cheers, nice choice! She was great.
