Hi everyone!

I'm new to this community, and I'm hoping to get some advice for my pup who is showing very anxious behaviour around her food. I'm in a living situation where I stay in a house share. Both my roommate and I have our own dogs. Everyone loves both of the dogs, and they get along (mostly - my pup is very submissive). I feed my dog in my room where my roommates dog is not allowed ( and vice-versa with my dog not allowed in my roommates room). 5pm is dinner time for my dog, but recently the other pup has taken to coming in whenever I give my dog her dinner. As a result, my pup has become very anxious at meal times, and eats as fast as possible to the point of vomiting. I've taken to closing my bedroom door while my dog eats, while I wait with her so that she his comfortable. But my concern is the anxiety I see in my dog as well as the potential for a pattern that results in separation anxiety and so on.

I'm hoping for some advice or stories of similar experiences - thanks so much! x

It's not unusual for a dog to become anxious if there is another dog present while she's eating. Each dog should be allowed to eat undisturbed and in peace. Keep that door shut if necessary to ensure that.

There is no connection between that type of anxiety and separation anxiety.

Thank you for your response, that makes a lot of sense!
