Good Morning. My name is Erica, and I am a first time (as an adult) dog owner to Tsavo, a 5 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback. I am married with 3 kids, ages 10, 9 and 7.

Tsavo is an intelligent and strong puppy, however, quite willful at times. We are definitely working through the challenges of training a puppy, with the most difficult being his biting/jumping on us. But no matter what he does, looking into his sweet little puppy face tends to have us melting every time! Looking forward to reading through the forum as well as posting and getting great advice!

Welcome.
I love Rhodesians- very loyal, smart and active! dogs.

For biting, check out the sticky called "the bite stops here" in the new owner section.
For jumping, it just seems to take a lot of repetition of teaching "DOWN", things like no one (guests included) pay attention to the pup if he's jumping and only rewarding for all 4 feet on the ground.

Thanks for the advice Shell! Your dog is so handsome, love how powerful RRs look when they are full grown.
Here are some pics of Tsavo:

The day we brougt him home at 14 weeks:

Curled up for a nap:

And showing he owns the couch, at 20 weeks:
