Trick Training Videos

I was just thinking that maybe we should have a thread dedicated to trick training videos - either tricks you've already taught, or ones that you're working on. That way we can all be inspired by each other to teach our dogs more and get advice along the way :)

Here are a couple of Kimma's videos:

Love the useful tricks one, especially the look on her face and the enthusiasm when she pounces on her toys to put them away :)

Here's some of mine.

Obi putting things in push pedal bin:

Beginning leg weaves with Obi:

And body awareness with Obi because it's cute:)

We're doing leg weaves for our canine freestyle class, to they're a work in progress. Also have to teach them the play bow by Thursday....

Yep, hoping lots of people will post videos:) Particularly of the play bow....
Yes, that's it. I don't need a video of that it looks like though, more of how to shape it. If I try to lure it, they lie down. If I hold their butt up, Obi will do it, but only if I hold his butt up, and Pixie won't follow a lure at all if I'm touching her.
For the bow, try putting a treat (or a toy) under a low coffee table or the couch. My couch is is about 4 inches off the ground and I put the treat under it so that Eppy would have to reach for it. In the process of getting it he would go right into the bow position.
Cool, will try it, thanks :)

This worked like a charm :) Although not quite in the way I expected... Obi did it perfectly, no issues at all.

Pixie lay down and crawled towards the treat. I just held on to it, and then because of all the "it's yer choice" we've done, she backed away from the treat, and to get out from under the thing she had to weight shift onto her back legs which made her butt come up. Rewarded that a few times, and rewarded for a few play bows while I was tugging with her, and suddenly she offered and held a bow :)
You can also "capture" a bow if you know when your dog will stretch. For example, the first thing my dogs do in the morning when they get out of their crates is to stretch in a "play" bow. With a clicker and treats ready, it was easy to "capture" the bow. I haven't done much with it. It is really a pain to try to train with four dogs. If I work with one, the others are always barking and carrying on. It works so much better if I have them away from the house to do that kind of training....but who has the time? I would appreciate any suggestions from those of you with more than one dog as to what would work. I have tried crating three and working with one. They bang on the crates like crazy.
I started out with a mat in the room where I did my training. The dog I wasn't working with was instructed to go to their bed (which was taught separately), and while I was working the other dog I would throw treats to the dog on the mat. Threw a lot at first, as me working with a dog was a big distraction, then as they understood and we built value for staying on the mat, I didn't have to reward much. And being released to train is a reward for staying on the mat too.

If they got up, I went and grabbed them by the collar and calmly put them back on the mat. If they got up a second time they were put out of the room for a minute. When they came back in I put them back on the mat and repeated as necessary.

These days it's very reliable, they both go straight to their mats when I tell them we're "doing some training", and don't get up until they are released. In fact, I find that sometimes I have trouble releasing them, because they love being on the mat. And I don't even need to have an actual mat anymore, we can be outside on the concrete and I tell one to go on his bed and he will do a down/stay until I release him. I actually think my bed cue is more reliable than my down cue..... Should work on that.

That's cool :)

I'm doing spiderman with my dogs, and Obi has gotten to the point where the board is almost vertical, Pixie isn't quite there yet. It's a fun trick though, and they love it :)
