You have to accept that maybe you're dog isn't stupid or obstinate, maybe you're just not training well. (I've been guilty of this one. Kabota's IQ skyrocketed once I switched from words to hand gestures.)
Make everything a game. A competitive one, imo, is even better.
I know Wally attention span, especially for "review" stuff really shot up when it turned into a game using what he's learned (and if I can, what he's currently trying to master).
This double once reviewing went from:
"Okay, I didn't get it, so I'll just try to get it next time"
to
"WTF? Y...you ate my reward?! You...CAD! Oh screw this - do another one!"
He literally tilted his head and looked at me like "I don't believe what I'm seeing" the first time I did it. Sometimes I wonder if we're partners or friendly rivals LOL
