Some places, even entire countries, have eliminated some dog training tools in response to pressure from activists. The trend, in my opinion, has been misguided and poorly thought out.

However, the other night the one dog organization I am part of lifted it's 2005 ban on e collars. The entire by-laws clause banning e collars was simply removed by a majority member vote.

I was both surprised and pleased by this decision. What I also was surprised and pleased by was the very reasonable and forthright discussion concerning this decision between those who wanted the ban dropped and those who opposed the change.

That reasonable discussion, by diametrically opposed viewpoints, was (perhaps) the greatest victory.

It left me with hope for many things!
