My 5 year old Staffordshire terrier (recently adopted) mauls us at the door. His excitement CONSUMES him and our commands seem to fall on deaf ears. You can see through the storm door that his body is quivering, his eyes are bulging and he is breathing erratically. The nightmare of entering our house lasts about 5 minutes each day. Everything we’ve tried seems to work only for a few days, if that. We’ve tried: leashing him immediately and making him lie down, using a clicker and treats, spraying him with a water bottle, ignoring the behavior, etc. Ignoring was the worst as he grew more aggressive in his attempts to be noticed and left us with many scars and torn clothing. He doesn’t seem to care about treats when we get home either, all he wants is the attention at all costs. I need help with this as neither we nor our guests are receptive to this behavior. It hurts! PLEASE HELP.
