Ticks!!...OMG driving me crazy

So after our little hike the other day I was prepared to fully check Isis, myself, and my hubby for ticks because I know they have been worse then normal this year....well I was not ready for the massive infestation

we found 5 ticks on Isis 3 on my hubby and none on me ....at first......then the next day we found 2 more on my hubby that were not there before......then later on last night I found 2 on me while showering that were not there that morning......we think they may be in my husbands car!!! we think they may have fallen off the dog and us in the car and now every time we ride in the car someone has a new tick....my husband found another one today after he went to pick up my daughter from school!!!!

This is soooooo crazy ...I have lived here my whole life...been in and out of the woods, ponds, creeks and never, never ,never seen this amount of ticks from just one walk.....

I think this may keep us from going back until it starts to get cold again :(

Last year was bad and I think this year is shaping up to be worse...I had to ban my son from the woods for the summer, he loves being in the woods, but was having one or two ticks a day in his hair *shudder* I've found them on all the dogs, just from the backyard. They're on Frontline Plus which seems to work, but I still find the ticks crawling on them, just not attached. Hate to say, but I'm kinda getting used to it...I don't get that crawling feeling every time I see one anymore.
Wow that sucks. What about k9 Advantix?? http://k9advantix.petparents.com/aboutAdvantix.cfm for the dogs at least.

I have never used it but it supposedly not only kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes it also repels them. I would try it out.
Avon Skin So Soft bath oil helps to repell fleas and ticks. You could get some, then use it. It makes your Skin So Soft. :p
I love you Alaska!!! No ticks or fleas for us..:D

When I was in Alabama..that was my first encounter with ticks..I was horrified even though I like bugs, I'd never actually had a tick ON ME! And I was in the car trying to smash it(it was crawling on my pants up my leg) And it wouldn't DIE!!! I was like..OH MY GOSH!! DIIEE!!! I finally flicked it out of the window...

I know! those things are invincible! I usually just wash them down the sink. :p
just last month and then last week, i had my foal go down and nearly die with tick paralysis and then my jack russell almost die, I have since found 5 ticks on all the rest of my dogs, but got them off before paralysis set in...TICKS SUCK!

A friend of mine has even found a couple ticks on her dog in suburban So. California this year. Something that does not happen often here. I wonder if perhaps we're seeing an increase everywhere due to them becoming more resistant to the insecticides used to get rid of them.
They get advantixed every 10 days, plus sprayed with permoxin (the strongest tick repellent) every 2 days. and checked twice a day. we are in a tick hot spot in australia, and sometimes they justt can't be found on fuzzy shetland ponies and can be found on jackrussels but due to size too small to cope with even a tiny amount of poison.
Even with frontline plus last year we were still picking them up :(. I really hate using chemicals one us or the dogs but i resorted to tick collars and they really worked :)

LOL....but the thing is I didn't have any on me after the walk...I had on my hiking boots and long pants with shirt tucked in......the only reason I think my husband had 2 is that he wore shorts

I would have had to wear the skin so soft for 24hrs after the walk be cause I didn't have any one me till the next night!!! and my husband had them 24 hrs later and 48 hours after the walk
Hi I have this little tool dead easy. Don't know if you can get it over in the US but worth find out about. Regards

We have them really, really bad this year too. I found 2 on LeRoy after I took him for a walk. And we walk in the street. Not in the fields. I found one on my daughter face yesterday after she picked strawberries in the garden. Last year I only found 2 the whole year. This year I think I'm up to about 7. I'm going to have to give my dogs weekly baths just to locate ticks.
We recently rescued a dog (see my new thread) and we pulled 15 ticks off of it. It was crazy, I hate those little buggers.
Between me and my mom, We've picked off 3 from Nubs and I found one on me!! OMG, I about freaked out. It was on my inner thigh and not yet attached. Any higher and  That was after a trip to a dog event in a state park. I was wearing pants, long socks and tennis shoes so I have no CLUE how it made it up my leg on the inside of my pants. Scary thought!

Ticks are worse then normal but I'm already having issues with FLEAS. I just brought some Frontline Plus and put it on nubs 4 days ago and I am STILL finding them on him. *sighs* It's gonna be a LONG summer.
Now my skin is crawling! Luckily, we have never had any trouble with ticks and the dogs. I've only ran into a tick ONCE and that was horrifying enough. I felt it moving in my hair, close to my scalp, and when I pulled it out and realized it was a tick, I completely accidentally/overwhelmed with disgust yelled "Oh god god there was a tick on my f-ing head!!" in front of my entire family.
