This video makes me absolutely sick. And the fact that she got off with just misdemeanor charges is so wrong.. I've decided to write to my state representatives (Bud Nornes, Dan Skogen, Collin Peterson, and Amy Klobuchar) and let them know how I feel about this and ask them to stand up against things like this. I'm going to suggest that we find a way to outlaw puppy mills all together, put a limit on how many dogs someone can have to breed, and suggest banning the sale of puppies in pet stores.. How does this sound? What else should I suggest?

It’s just as disgusting as any other puppy mills footages I’ve seen in the past. It says this place has been licensed by USDA. I really wanna know what the guideline is and how they qualified to be licensed.

This is all happening about 20 minutes away from me too..

I found this petition online to shut down the Kennel, it's from August of '08 with 1469 signatures.. But I don't know how effective it would be to have everyone sign it. I might know the judge who will be deciding her fate.. If I am right, justice will be served as best it can after the stupid Jury let her off on Misdemeanors..

It's in New York Mills, Minnesota. No she did not get shut down. Apparently around the time the case came about, she changed ownership of the puppy mill from herself, to her husband and daughter.. and "stayed on as an employee".. It's still up and running under her husband and daughter.

Lets add up the next couple days .... and, be serious if it was actually legal for a bounty on someones head .... how much could you all put in?

I would gladly put in $100 toward that (I can't bring myself to watch the video, but will take y'all's word for it)... surely some dog-loving celebrities would be willing to raise awareness of that woman (e.g. Oprah is onto the puppy mill thing and would surely be willing to use her weight to help shut them down)...

I think the government has better (or SHOULD have better) things to do then decide how many dogs or bitches, or intact dogs you should be allowed to own.

I personally, won't appreciate the government butting into my affairs. I will own as many dogs as I like, and will not have someone telling me how many litters or dogs I can/can't have.

if someone can not afford quality care for their pets ... then they SHOULD be told how many .... someone who is cruel to their animals should not own the animals

I don't think anyone here is protesting how many dogs this lady has, but her treatment of them. Neglect, along with animal cruelty, is against the law.

Oh no, I wasn't offended. I just think that people should be careful in this area. Because I'm afraid it won't stop at just trying to regulate puppy mills, and the good people will be punished along with the bad, and as bad PM/BYB are, I'd still rather everyone have the freedom to do as they wish then to see dog ownership/breeding regulated by higher powers.

"Quality care" differs from person to person. I've had people get mad at me and say I don't give 'quality care' or that I'm 'cruel' because I choose not to have indoor dogs, or I would choose not to spend thousands treating a dog with say, cancer. I've been called names for offenses like that. ;-)

But every dog deserves training, love, decent food, proper medical care, kept clean and maintained and groomed properly, good shelter, clean water and a secure area. They should be managed properly, just like any animal.

But you can't regulate morals, and character in people. This women surely has a screw loose somewhere.

Not that I would agree with being told how many dogs I could have, but technically, the government can and does make laws on how many dogs a person can own. Dogs aren't a right.

Hmm, that would be an interesting discussion. Should people be free to abuse animals as they wish in order to to preserve the rights of all, or should good pet owners give up some rights in order to prevent other from abusing animals? Personally I would be willing to give up some rights to prevent abuse. But I can see the other side, too.
