Hi everyone, I may be getting a dog in the near future.. I would like to know what is right for me? Does anyone have msn? AIM? so we can chat. It would make me feel closer to the person and together we can decide the right dog for me based on my personality. I have already done a bunch of dog quizzes and found a dog.. The cavachon, I read here that most people don't like breeders who don't breed pure bred. I wonder why.. Any help would be great!!!

Thanks!

Why not just chat on here? :)

Breeders who breed mixed breeds GENERALLY 1) don't health test 2) aren't breeding for any reason except for profit (or the elusive 'hypoallergenic coat') and 3) don't give their dogs a 'purpose' (work, show, performance).

When selecting a breeder, you want to find someone who's been in it a while, puts some sort of titles on their dogs, and health tests.

I'd stay away from 'Cavachon' breeders.

Don't necessarily go by the breed quizzes. I just took a few out of curiosity after reading this post, and ended up with breeds I either have no interest in/specifically do not want, or gave me a list of 50+ breeds.

Don't limit yourself to particular breeds unless you're wanting to show or you're looking for particular physical characteristics (i.e. type of coat, size, etc.....). The primary characteristic you should be looking for is energy level and you can find different energy levels in all breeds of dogs.

If you're a first time owner, I would consider looking at breed rescues and shelter dogs.

Go down to the local shelter and meet some dogs then. You want a dog that has an energy level the same as you are lower than you. In another words, you don't want a dog that wants to run 5 miles a day if you're the type to walk for 20-30 mins max.

I don't want to go to a shelter, I have already looked at the dogs online and I am not interested. It would be great. If someone can give me the right dog for me by getting to know me. That's why I wanted to do it over AIM, MSN, Facebook

The point is to get someone to know me and help me and we can look at dog breeds together online. It will be a lot easier for me and I think it would reveal better results.

The dog's in the toronto shelter suck. I want to raise a puppy.

That breeder you posted is nothing more than a puppy mill with a pretty webpage.

I beg of you not to get a puppy from them.

I have a question for you. Do you care about the dog over population problem? If you do care there are there are much better ways of getting a puppy than this breeder.

they don't list ANY of the health tests (so I asume they don't do any health testing, they don't show you what the parents look like. Their dogs don't even have to very basic CGC certification, if they don't have anything else that should be a minimum.

Their prices are OUTRAGIOUS for a puppy with compleatly unpredicatable health, or tempermant.

Tell us about yourself then. Are you a high energy person? Do you have children? You've stated you want a 10-20 lb dog. Would you prefer a dog that's friendly to strangers or aloof? Do you like to run, bike, hike in the woods or just lay around?

I am a pretty low key friendly person. No children. I am a child. Only 15, parents dont know about the dog thing yet. I need to prove I am responsible enough to care for one. I want a friendly dog. I live beside a nice path where people walk there dogs. I run.
