Oh you are so lucky! The DDB is my second breed of choice after GD's and I always LOVE seeing pics. Love those jowls and wrinkles. I can imagine your excitement! Can't wait to see more pics.

AWWWWW! Congratulations on getting a new dog/ puppy!
I grew up with a DDB in the house that I loved very much.
He was a show dog first and a cattle herder second. :)
I wish you and your new pup good luck! I hope to see photos.

brutus is home now settling in nicely. we have another dog ruby 1 year old. still a bit of a pup herself. she is a little hyper, going nuts trying to play with brutus. i had to attach her leash to my hip to help gain a little better controll. she is trying to be gental with puppy, but we were a bit worried just about her hurting him by steping on him or smashing him into somthing. (she weighs 50 something pounds to brutus' 14 or 15) but its going well. we are wondering something though brutus tries to hump her while they play. he is pretty rough and tumble biting and growling while they play. we are wondering if his humping is just part of playing? or could he be trying to domanit her? at just 8 weeks and only being hear for not even 24 hours yet? another funny note he tries to succkle her. her last set of nipples are pretty big because she recently went through her first heat.

just about a week later and all is going well. ruby has given up the roost just like my better half said she would lol. i thought she would have wanted to be the boss, and it would have been a few months before brutus would have taken over with his size alone. ruby is soo strong and agile and protective of her family. she growled at him a couple times in the first day or soo, around food and certain toys. but now when brutus growls at her over food she caves. he can take the food right out of her mouth [ not that we let him ]. she has relly showen me her real personality with having the pup around she is so sweet and gental with him. even when he is chewing on her with sharp little teeth. shes turned into a real motherly type. we were told she was a boxer ridgeback cross but we recently found out her dad was a pitbull. but she is the most affectionate and gental dog we have ever met. regardless of certain stereotypes. even though she lets him think hes the little tuff guy. its a laugh when we are out in the yard and a skate boarder, roller blader or some other suspicious seemingly character [ in her eyes ] goes buy, and she puts on a show he runs for the hills.

Beautiful puppy! I love his color. Does that particular Mastiff always have this color predominantly? :) I am not familiar with the breed like I am with my own breeds.

yep we are pretty sure now his humping must have been a domanaice thing. i never would have thought such a young puppy would do that to an adult dog, much bigger then it. and soo soon after being introduced and in the adults territory.
french mastiff is also knowen as the Dogue de Bordeaux

from Wikipedia
Color varies from shades of fawn (light, coppery red) to mahogany (dark, brownish red) or also an orange skin with a black, brown or red mask, though the red mask is true to the breed. White markings are permitted on the tips of the toes and on the chest, but white on any other part of the body is considered a fault, and a disqualifying one if the pigmentation goes beyond the neck

thanks abbylynn everybody who sees him loves his eyes. he seems to really look right into you when you talk to him because of those eyes maybe kinda like people eyes. when ruby looks at you its different because her eyes are so black. i was really drawin to his eyes right from the start.

brutus is now 10 months old. he is still quite the charactor. he has figured out how to turn the taps on in the bath tub when he wants a drink. and he always turns on the cold one. he is such an awesome dog to have. we weighed him about a month ago and he was 125 pounds maybe a few more now. hes a real handsome fella some times him and his girl rube lay on the floor and kiss. other times its like wwf round hear lol.
