Hello, my roommate owns a dog and knows more about dog care than I do, but I want to train her to do a few different tasks, and I'm more interested in training than she is, so I have come here to learn.

I want to train her to search for, find, and retrieve her "stuffed cheeseburger" toy.

So far I have trained her to find the toy. I did this with the following training pattern: I arrange several toys around me, including the cheeseburger, and reward her with the clicker and a treat when she touches her nose to the cheeseburger.

Now she can find the cheeseburger reliably with the command "cheeseburger."

Now I want to train her to pick up the toy and bring it to me. I can't figure out how to do this. What would be the proper technique?

Web search "backchain retrieve".

I'm not sure if it qualifies as the proper technique, lol. But it's probably the easiest and most efficient.
