Hello all -
I have tried searching and searching and i think i have come to the decision to switch to Evo. I have a 22lb Fox Terrier mix and the reason for the change is she is always gasey and her poop is sometimes inconsistent. Her energy is great and the main reason for the change is i quite simply want to give her the best food possible. Thanks for the help!

My mutt is on EVO and is doing great, but just remember that there's no such thing as a 'best' food - only 'better' and 'right'. I think one of the goals of Canidae's new formulation was to diversify the protein/nutrient sources; the proteins in ALS are chicken, turkey, lamb, and fish. You might want to try some of the Canidae single-protein formulas before moving to EVO.

As puremutt said, if you do switch to EVO, transition slowly. EVO is very, very rich and energy dense. Make sure she has enough water. Be sure to use Naturapet's online calculator to determine the right portions. Since you will be feeding smaller portions by volume, your dog might not feel sated after each meal. Don't give in. Give her some activities to get her mind off the food.

A tablespoon of canned pumpkin (pumpkin only - not pumpkin pie filling, which contains sugar and seasonings) can be good for settling stomachs during transitions, but remember that it's also adding calories and you should adjust portions accordingly.

I just switched from Canadae to Innova (Natura brand) for those same reasons. I have not even heard a fart since then, they where bad. Ever since then he has been doing great. Only 2 dollars more too.
Going to switch the cats over starting today from Felidae to a Natura brand food, they sure stink up that bathroom

We switched from Canidae to Taste of the Wild (she needs grain-free food) and just sort of did it -- nothing gradual. It has been fine. So, don't know if it means anything, but that's what we did.
