Hello, this is our 12 year old German Shepard mix. She was in a lot of pain, guarding her leg a lot, limping, the whole nine yards. The vet said they didn’t see any breaks or sprains. The ortho surgeon said there might be a mass on her pelvis when they did more x-rays but we are waiting on a MRI. About 2 days after her hip x-rays she seemed to loose all feeling in her leg. No more pain, her legs was just limp. Well now we are concerned about swelling happening. Still not in pain, but major swelling happening. Anybody have any idea what this may be?

I'd call your vet or emergency vet ASAP and let them know about this change. That's pretty nasty swelling and I'd want professional help figuring out what's going on and whether this requires urgent medical intervention.

I called the vet that did the hip x-ray and they basically said if I was concerned about it take her to the emergency vet. I am at the ER vet now. Thank you!

Good luck! Sudden swelling like that could be so many things, but I hope it's nothing serious and they'll be able to get her comfortable and healthy soon.
