If so, what did you do? I’ve tried antibiotics, minimally helps. She’s a black lab and 13yrs old, just want to make her comfortable
This needs to be seen by a vet so they can determine appropriate treatment. Not all antibiotics will be effective for all bacterial infections, and won't work at all if this is fungal, a parasite, allergies, or any other of a number of possible non-bacterial skin issues. It's against forum rules to try to diagnose medical problems that haven't had vet care, because if anyone guesses wrong it could make the problem worse or delay necessary veterinary intervention.

She has had vet care. Given kelflex or cephalexin. I’m an NP and can write script, but nothing seems to help. She has had sarcomas in the past, but this looks different and I’m not sure what to do. She’s old but a healthy old. Doesn’t bother her and she gets around fine. Was asking to see if any other people have used an anti fungal and covered with gauze and vet wrap with success
Did you tell your vet that the first course of antibiotics hasn't resolved the issue? Like in human medicine, many vets will start out with the treatment most likely to treat the problem, but they have the ability to do more in-depth diagnostics (like skin scrapes, biopsies, cultures, etc.) if the initial treatment doesn't work. If your vet has expressed that they don't know what to do and is out of options, I'd suggest a second opinion or asking for a referral to a specialist in dermatology or a veterinary college.

I'm not a veterinary professional, but I do know that there's a lot of human medicines that are very safe for us, but not for dogs, and some human medications need to be used differently on dogs than they would be on us. I still would not recommend trying human treatments without at least some guidance from a veterinary professional.

Here in the U.S. you don't need a referral to a specialist like a dermatologist (and I second the suggestion to see one). You can look up vet specialists in your area and just call. I've done it for several kinds of specialists, and IMO that's the way to go the minute you don't feel your regular vet is getting anywhere with a problem. The problem since Covid is long wait times for an appointment, but that's true for us humans too.

Please, She definitely needs to go back to the Vet, a second opinion or a dermatology vet if your vet is out of answers. I work in a vet clinic. This needs Veterinary care.
It's harder today to get stuff done at the vets. These association vets are like human hospitals, geared towards profits for the board of directors. Average actual veternarians with general knowledge. The days of having actual specialty individually owned practices vet offices is hard to find. Use to be you would get a culture done and find out exactly what your dealing with and then have a compound pharmacy give you the right combination of exact medicine to use. Also running blood work to see if there is any deficiencies in your nutrition if the immune system is not working correctly to ward off chronic infections. if you have a vet school call them and make an appointment directly, they do have the equiptment and labs more then a general local vet office has.
