Starting about 1 - 1.5 months ago my lhasa started having VERY BAD FISHY breath. This happened to be around the time i introduced a second dog to our lives. Besides that, nothing else had changed about her daily life. She is eating Wellness food and has been doing great on it and always had very very good breath (doesn't smell at all!). ever since she had bad breath it is very fishy, strong, and i dread giving her a kiss now =(

did introducing a new dog give her some sort of stress that changed her breath? It doesn't sound likely to me but then again tht is the only thing that changed.

about a few weeks ago I decided to try to give her some pro plan food , she used to eat pro plan as a puppy and i thought maybe her body just doesnt want wellness anymore and its giving her bad breath. well the food change didnt change anything at all. she switched very well and has had NO problems but the bad breath is still there.

the greyhound we adopted also has SUPER BAD BREATH, i thought it was 'passsed on' to my lhasa, lol. but i dont think bad breath is contagious?
i dont know what to do about either of them and their terrible, fishy breath. We have tried mints, greenies, brushing a whole lot - nothing works. I used to love my dog's breath but now I just can't stand it :(

I'm not sure what to do, is there anything else i could try or could there possibly be any other reason for this?

Is she licking her butt a lot more since the other dog came into your home? Or is she licking the other dog's butt? Anal glands can cause "fishy breath." Have you had your greyhound's teeth checked? Try washing the hair around her mouth the oder may be in the hair.

I have not noticed if she has been licking herself more but it doesnt seem like she has been licking more than usual. The greyhound had its teeth cleaned a month before we got her (so about 2-3 months ago). We also had a full check up about a month ago and they said she looked fine.

i will be keeping an eye on licking behavior though to see if i can notice any patterns from now on. i dont think she is licking the greyhound's butt because she cant reach it , lol.

Rather than licking the greyhound.... could she be EATing something that you don't want to hear about .... If she goes in the yard after the greyhound goes potty, you might want to consider that possibility and clean up more frequently...
