HI everyone,

Am a newBee.. anyone have any recommendations on training "stubborn breeds" such as weimaraners.. was in a discussion with a neighbor and he told me you have to "break em' down".. not sure if this is the best policy..

thanks!

Probably not the best policy, no.

Stubborn breeds can be trained just like any other breed. It just takes longer, and you may need to find a key motivator for the dog. Dogs are only stubborn when they only do what they want. The trick to training stubborn dogs is making them want to do what you want. In other words, make good behaviour very rewarding for them.

I would say, no stubborn breeds just stubborn dogs in a breed. I think a consistent, patient training program is more of an answer than the "breaking down program" as that sounds a little harsh in nature.
