Wally won't eat his own poo (at least no immediately) but he'll try to eat everyone elses. 
If he's going to eat poo - I'd rather it be his.
I know I have to be on top of him to tell him to leave it or walk directly at him from head on to back him off it.
Otherwise, the only thing I know to do is keep getting leave it solid (I need to practice it more outside, been slacking in that) and get ready to call him off it.
Supposedly they grow out of it - but does a dog ever grow out of eating crap off the ground?
