My dog stays at my parents house a few times a week while I'm at work. They bought a new bed and the dog is having trouble getting up on it. Looking into steps or ramp, is there an advantage of one over the other?

I don't think so. Ramp might be better if he's a stubby-leg breed, maybe.

A ramp is great for a vehicle. I think steps are better for a bed because it's free-standing and doesn't lean on the bed. There's no risk of sliding off the bed and scaring the dog to death.

For most dogs, steps feels more natural, although it took my old lab very little time to get accustomed to the ramp he used to get into my van. Every so often, he would just jump over the ramp into, or out of, the van just to show me he still could.
