Take a wild guess on what breed it is?

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A pit bull owned by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison attacked the player's young son on Thursday.
A spokesman for the Super Bowl champions told the Associated Press this is a personal matter for Harrison and the club won't comment further.

THE BELL TOLLS: Steelers get a workout in Obama meeting
An unidentified neighbor told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette one of the star player's three dogs got loose Thursday and attacked the boy, James III. His age was not immediately available.

The newspaper and WTAE-TV say the boy was taken to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The hospital declined comment. The newspaper says a second person may have been hurt.

I don't think that is a fair comment or judgment! I have a rottweiler and a doberman, I KNOW they wouldn't EVER do anything like that because I am a responsible pet owner and raised and trained them properly. both of my dogs are the biggest babies you would ever meet!

And it's not just about breed.

Any dog in the hands of an irresponsible owner is capable of doing damage, not only to people.

Both dobermans and Rotties have had their fad times, and myths of aggression have followed them along like a plague. Now it's the Pitties time to be in the spotlight of ignorance and hate, and it doesn't help that stories like this are all the media shows. It doesn't talk about labs or beagles, or any dogs that aren't bully looking as much as it talks about "pit bulls"

Do research on a breed before downing on it. You would learn that American Pit Bull Terriers were American heroes, and that human aggression was NOT accepted even in the 1800's. Any dog who turned on an owner or person in the ring was usually culled. People back then used them for fighting, but they certainly took advantage of their loving nature for people.

To name a few..

Hellen keller had a pit bull
Petey from the little rascals was a pit bull
Theodore Roosevelt had a pit bull
Mark Twain had a pit bull

These people knew the true nature of the dogs.

Oh well, Tough week for Harrison with his WHite House comments(quite possibly the stupidest thing i've heard all year) and now this.

What other breed is it going to be? Black, professional athlete? (no racist) they just seem to prefer this breed.

What is up with Steelers linebackers and their dogs? Two years ago, Joey Porter's dogs attacked a neighbor's horse.

hmm, could be any number of breeds..

Shane Battier, NBA player, is black with two dogs--a mixed breed and a Lab.

Shawn Jefferson (NFL) black, with a black Lab.

Edgerton Hartwell (NFL) black, with a Japanese Tosha.

Jason Taylor (NFL)- a pair of Akitas

Michael Strahan (NFL)-Akita, Mastiff, and a mutt

Donovan McNabb-Boxer and a Rott

In fact, if you look through this list: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/2003-01-28-athletes-dogs-list_x.htm

Pits are pretty few and far between. That's a pretty ignorant statement to make.

I was scanning trying to even find any one that owned a pit, and the first (and only so far) really made me laugh:

Amare Stoudemire, red-nosed Pit Bull (J.T.), Pit Bulls (Ace, Duece)

LOL.

EDIT: Even farther down, there is David Feherty, dachshund/miniature schnauzer/squirrel mixed "breed". Breed in quotations for a mix, but a red-nose is a breed? lolololol.

How terrible pit bulls can be, attacking an other member of their own pack, and a child to boot:mad: Thats it I will never have a pit bull.....................unless the price is right, and from a good quality BYB :D

Next door the people have two children, one is nine and quite smart for his age, but there two year old plus, well she is a different story. The boy is into hockey big time, so he likes to practice hitting the puck into the nets setup. So the little girl wants her own hockey stick, (she gets one), but she into hitting there two ( yes rescure dogs a GS mix and collie mix, on the head with the stick, they are starting to learn as she approaches get up and move away!

Now you know, its the girls that can be a pain, even on this forum attacking or coming down on a innocent poster that wants to buy a BYB dog, like I do, gezzz, golly!:p

yes red-nosed Pit Bull LMFAO

I think he was attempting to be factitious but way off the mark?
Um yeah. I found the post to me mostly incoherent. To not make sense at all.

What does Pit Bull attacking owners son have to do with not ever owning this breed? I do not want any dog which would attack my child be it a Lab, Rott, Pit, Cocker, ect.

What does neighbor boy playing hockey have to do with this. Is the kid black who will grow up to only have Pit Bulls?

What does the sister hitting the dogs have to do with this thread? Perhaps it is the connection of them parents being irresponsible parents/dog owners such as the one in this news story?

I could not make out if this was to be a factitious post or one from someone who isn't very articulate and possibly confused.
