Wesnday i got Sassy out of her crate at about 8 am. Take her outside and notice her right rear leg is covered in blood. Rush her to vet where they find she'd been bitten by a spider. She had the classic spiderbite symptoms. Under her hind leg was black, and she has quarter sized hole under her leg. She spent 2 nights at the vet and came home this morning looking like a plucked chicken. She's on antibioics and steriods. I'm just glad the bleeding stopped. It's scary to wake and find your dog covered in blood.

My vet said any kind of spider could've bitten her, and it could've been 3-4 days prior to her bleeding. The pressure in the wound built up causing it to burst. I'm squimish when it comes to blood, so I'm like OMG she's gonna bleed to death. The vet tech took one look at the little puddle of blood she was sitting beside and they took her back to the back to work on her. Just glad she's home and asleep next to the couch.

Awwwe ... Poor Sassy! I am glad she is on the road to recovery. I have a very real fear of spiders .... period! I would have been not only spazzing out ... but looking for the spider too! I get the creeps just thinking about it! :/
