Lucy seems to be doing well enough ... per vet that she can stop the sub-Q fluids for now. Her nose is still running but not quite as bad. Her cough sounds like a dry croup but she is still eating very well and has energy. But if she tries to be energetic she starts coughing and hacking. She is on the strongest antibiotic there is for secondary bacterial infections from KC/influenza.

I make sure to keep her calm most of the time and in her crate 50% of the time to rest. I also put her in a steamy bathroom every day to help open her airways.

Lucy and I do not get much sleep ... the coughing and all .... as I keep her in my bedroom with me. i gave her my biggest crate ( large ) and she has a carpet, water bowl, food bowl, bed, fresh towel daily in her crate and the ability to see me at all times. :)

Lucy is so lucky to have you for a Mom. It seems you have thought of everything to make this as easy as possible for Lucy.
Awwwe ... thank you.

Lucy took her first real drink of water from her bowl this morning after her breakfast!

Yeeea! ... progress! Lucy does not leave me out of her sight. I went to the basement to wash her bedding ... and low and behold there she was watching me ... hacking all the way back up the steps. Poor girl. I think she likes me! :clap2:

Lucy has the best Mom. Had to be so hard giving her Leo's things! Our dog Motley has been gone, oh at least five or 6 years. Hubby still can not bear for Ginny to have his dog dishes, leashes or toys. Good for you for putting Lucy's needs above your own right now Abbylynn.

Awwwwwwe ... Thank you ....

I understand how hard it is to give up your heart dogs things ... I have to be honest and say that I cried a little ... she now has everything of Leeo's ... dishes, beds, ... except his collar and his pink bar bell squeak toy... and those two items and his Christmas stocking will always be taboo. :)

I also have made it aware that if I should pass on before my other Sisters or Dad and such ... Leeo's remains in his music box urn is to be placed in my casket with me. :) My one Sister said I shouldn't tell people this ... because they would think I was crazy ... she has never had a heart dog yet! :)

Leos urn in your casket makes total sense to me. But then, as my brother in law tells us, our family puts our dogs as high up as most families put their elderly Grandparents. He has a hard time dealing with our feelings, as he has never owned a dog at all. lol!

Lol! I have a brother-in-law that has never allowed my Sister for over 30 some years to own a dog. He said that if my Sister would have spent the amount of money as I did on Leeo to try and save him ... he'd have killed her .. as he chuckled. :/ He really is a great guy ... just is not fond of dogs. My one Doberman back in the 70's chased him through my Mom's back yard while attached to the redwood picnic table! Lol!The dog knew! :)

Yeah ... I don't place my dogs above people ... but little Leeo sure was close!

Lucy actually slept through the night fairly well ... as I only heard her once. Poor Blu Boy sounds like he has the croup this morning. :/ He has doxycycline to take yet just in case. Abbylynn hardly shows any symptoms ... she is the best of the three.
