I have an english bulldog-beagle mix. I have had him for about 5 weeks, he is 3 months old on Jan 2nd. He bites like crazy, on everything. I know there are a million of these threads but I'm at a loss (probably doesn't help I am a first time dog owner). He loves food, he will sit for his treats, often without me saying sit he just knows thats what he needs to do to get it. However, if I don't have a treat and he knows I don't there is no hope getting him to sit. He also will skip me and go chew on someone else's feet if he has the option because he knows I will punish him. I have told other people to start disciplining also but this is just an example of his smarts. However, despite different methods of punishment (I have tried yelping, leaving the room, holding his muzzle, i know this isn't the best, and spraying water at him) and it just doesn't help. He knows he did something wrong when i leave the room after being bit, but if I come back after a minute he will still be sitting at the door waiting because he knows I will come back. If I wait longer he just doesn't care and goes on chewing on something else(toys, washing machine, door, gate). I know he will be an amazing dog because of how darn smart he really is, but it is getting in the way right now. Has anyone else had this stubborness issue and how did you get past it? I plan on getting some training once his shots are done, but its getting to the point where his baby teeth are in and his jaw is strong enough to actually break skin which needs to stop!
