Slipping on floors

My 18 month old Labradoodle has started slipping on my vinyl floors and hence is hesitant to walk around this area. He was fine until now and used to run and play everywhere. If I put boots on his feet, he will walk confidently, even if it is just one boot. At times he forgets and walks normally across, especially if he is excited about food etc. how do I work around this. His nails are clipped and hair around his paws are cut short.

We have hardwood floors throughout our house and got some good-looking runners from Lowes to help our senior lab-mix get around. They are non-slip and machine washable.

In her case, she's not afraid of the slippery floors but watching her struggle get up, it seems like she should be.
