Many of you probably let your dog sleep on the bed, I let indie on the bed with me in the mornings after hubby has left for work.

Id love to let her sleep on the bed with us but she is a medium sized dog. I'm just curious. How many of you with bigger sized dogs let them sleep on the bed?

Sometimes Callie our 90 lb family dog climbs up on bed with me. She's the WORST. She loves to cuddle up but she sticks so close by you that by the end of the night you realize she's sprawled across the better part of a double bed while you're half falling out!! Needless to say she is now restricted to morning cuddle time only.

If Shambles was not crated at night, I would imagine he'd be in the bed if he wanted to be. He's 84 lbs. Magpie, Smalls, and Jonas are the only ones interested in sleeping with us, and that's like 100 lbs of dog spread out all over the bed. I would prefer Shambles.

I remember when my niece was 2, we would take naps together. I would wake up shoved into a corner of a queen sized bed while the tiny two year old took up all the rest. My 90 lb dog, on the other hand, took up much less space on the rare occasions he chose to sleep on the bed with us.

We have a smallish dog (~44 lbs) and she sleeps on the bed with us. Her favorite position seems to be in the middle, her back against mine with her legs straight out (sort of, standing position but on her side). She manages to leave me about 3" on the edge of the bed and more than once I've woken up with my head on the night stand.

That doesn't bother me as much as the dirt. Even though we wipe off her paws and legs after she's been outside, she still tracks dirt into the bed. It's like sleeping in a sandbox some nights. ;)

Bentley-60 lb's and Tank-70-80lb's all sleep in my bed. If i have a doggy visitor and they are trusted out of crate they usually join. And usually it is a 40-100 lb dog. Just depends. So i am squashed up against my wall and have 2-3 dogs plus a cat some nights all sleeping on my bed.

Hitch is now 68 lbs and he is allowed to sleep in our full size bed with my husband, the 2 cats and me! I don't know if he was trained to not sleep on the bed, or if the bed is too full, but if the lights are off he usually jumps off but if the lights are on he will sleep on the bed.

Melonie (40lbs) usually starts out the night sleeping in the bed with us, and by the time I wake up she's decided she needs more space and is sprawled out across the floor. I kind of wish we'd gotten a king-sized bed instead of a queen!

The dogs don't sleep in the bed with us at night, but the second hubby gets out of the bed to get ready for work Chloe pops her head up on the side of the bed and as long as SO is out of the room, she hops up and curls up between my legs. Sydney will figure out after a while that she's alone on her bed and will slowly hop up. But Sydney has to sleep at my head with her head on hubby's pillow so she generally doesn't come up until hubby leaves for work. If she comes up before when SO comes in to say goodbye he rolls his eyes and tells Sydney what a worthless spoiled mutt she is (very lovingly of course) and we snooze until its time for me to get up. On the rare occasions when SO is out of town the girls sleep with me and even though its a king size bed I always end up on the very edge!

Both dogs sleep on the bed with us when they wish (Thumper is 40lbs and Cash is 20lbs), they also both have their own kennels in the bedroom, doors removed, that they choose to sleep in sometimes too. We have a king bed though, so that helps. Thumper usually curls up between mine and hubby's head between our pillows, and Cash sleeps at our feet. Both dogs usually fall asleep in bed with us, and in the mornings when I wake up Thumper is in his kennel, Cash is usually sprawled out on the bed still.. but sometimes when he wants space he sleeps in his kennel too.

Personally, I like having my dogs in bed with me, it provides a sense of comfort I just couldn't explain. Especially now, my hubby is on vacation in California, and i'm at home alone, so both dogs sleep on the bed all night with me.. they're usually a little more protective of me and tend to not let me out of their sight when hubby is gone.

I love having Jubel in the bed with me, he's just under 50#. He's usually snuggled up against my back or my stomach. The big question is if/when I have a second dog where they'll end up. My foster still spends the night in his crate, if I do let him into my room overnight I'm not letting him on the bed. As a foster who's forever home may not want a dog on the bed it'd be easier for him if I've never let him in the bed and he learns to enjoy the doggie bed.

Colby and Ace both weigh in around 40lbs and both sleep in the bed. Ace is probably the best little spoon on the planet. I woke up this morning with him next to me (sharing my pillow) curled under my arm. Colby always sleeps in the crook of my knees. FI on the other hand has his entire 1/2 of the bed to himself. The only problem is they sleep on top of the covers and I sometimes get pinned below...lol

ETA:

She doesn't usually sleep like this, but FI caught her letting it all hang out. My legs are on the right.

Bella does. Every night. Only now and then do I wake up with leg cramps from trying to maneuver around her. This morning I woke up with the bottom half of my left leg asleep because her fat head was lying on it all night.

Like PackMomma, I feel comfy having her there with me. Maybe safer. I think she feels the same way

Biscuit is about 42 lb. and is allowed on the bed, but she's not allowed to stay there all night because her preferred sleeping position is like such:

Diagonally, across the ENTIRE bed somehow. She is talented.

Usually she hops up in bed around 6am to snuggle. We like that.

Last night was the first night that both Aleu and Troubles shared my bed. I woke up with the husky curled into a tini tiny ball on at the foot, myself pressed against the wall, long ways, and the chihuahua stretched out, snoring in the middle of the bed.
