My samoyed would have an outside dog kennel where he/she would sleep and a crate for when the weather is bad. The dog would be in a household of six people.
I have a pretty big yard where we could spend time with him/her. Is it a problem that during the weekdays no one will be home from 9 am to 6 pm? If Samoyeds arent the right dogs for me, which dog breeds would be better for my living situations?

None, leaving a dog outside/alone for that amount of time per day is not right for any dog.
Wait until you are in a situation where you can spend proper quality time with a dog. then think it through again.

There are not any breeds that should live outside. The only exception that I can think of would be livestock guardians that live on farms and have outdoor enclosures (though you should not get a livestock guardian unless you have livestock for them to guard - they will be miserable otherwise).

With your work schedule, you would need to consider either A) hiring someone to come let your dog out and walk it during the day, or B) finding a doggy daycare. Puppies especially can not be left alone for more than a few hours at a time, but even adult dogs need stimulation/enrichment during the day. It seems like a dog that is alone all day and lives outside would not be getting enough attention. Just my two cents.

I think samoyed is a great outdoor dog. If you make kennel big enough, in the deep shade you can level him there for up to 10 hours. I suggest providing him with a "run path" in his kennel so he can run and vent.
