I have a 14 month old shih tzu that we obtained in October after he bit his previous owners son. We already had three older dogs including a four year chihuahua. The shih tzu has ingegrated well with our pack, but everytime my chihuahua lays down, he lays down beside her and begins sucking on her giant chihuahua ears!!

Normally I would put a stop to this behavior- cant have the pup annoying the chihuahua... The only thing is- the chihuahua LIKES it! She Tilts her head toward him....she occasionally moans... Seriously-it's creepy how much she likes it... I realize that what they are doing is perfectly innocent, of course, but should I let it continue? My primary concern is the fact that my chihuahua has been walking around for months with wet, slimy ears, and I'm wondering if this may cause ear infections? If so, how do I put an end to this doggy romance?

If it's been months without an ear infection, I'd say it doesn't cause ear infections. Personally, I'd be very unwilling to stop an interaction that makes both dogs so happy, even if it is weird and kinda gross.

I have the same thing going on with my two Shih Tzu x Maltese males. Not the ears but Remmy wants to lick Monty's mouth, face all the time. I just wish that Monty had put a stop to it but he puts up with it even though he does not really like it. He will growl at Remmy but Remmy doesn't liesten to him so I am forever having to tell Remmy, to leave it.

They do not do it all the time but enough that I feel sorry for Monty having to put up with it and I feel I should stop him doing it, just have not figured out how. Monty is seven and Remmy is five and have been raised together. Other than that, they get along great, never any arguments between them.
